Farmville Layout Ideas (Farmville Expert)

Farmville is one of the most versatile games going. With a simple grid formation you can create your farm in an almost unlimited number of ways, just like a real farm! Here are a few Farmville layout ideas to give you some inspiration.

Inspect Your Neighbours' Farms Closely

The first thing you should do is to simply look at the farms of your neighbours, especially those who are at intermediate to advanced levels. This can give you a good idea of how to organise your own farm.

To do this, either visit their farm or check out their profile photos as many players have screen captures of their farms stored there.

Decide What Kind Of Farmer You Want To Be?

What is your priority when it comes to your farm?

Do you want it to look nice and to make some good money? Or would you rather optimise it for money? Or do you prefer it to look absolutely perfect and you don't really care about money except to buy more stuff to decorate your farm with?

Going For The Gold

If your priority is making money then you should dedicate the vast majority (ideally 90% or more) of your land to growing crops on. It won't look pretty stuffing all your animals and trees into a tiny corner but it will make you more money.

If you decide to go via this route then I recommend planting similar crops next to each other. For example, plant all your strawberries next to each other and all your pumpkins next to each other. If you follow this plan then they should all mature for harvest at roughly the same time and you won't be wasting time moving around your farm and clicking all over the place.

Going For The Show

If you only care about what your farm looks like then you may want to sketch your idea before going ahead and creating it.

Some people use Photoshop, a spreadsheet or even regular grid-lined paper to sketch out and modify their ideas before going ahead and buying and placing the stuff they want.

If you need more inspiration for your layout and your neighbours' farms just aren't giving you what you need then check out the official Zynga Farmville forum. There are several threads (including one with over 600 pages) where people are showing off their farms.

Farmville Collectables (Farmville Expert)

Farmville collectables were introduced to add yet another dimension to this great game. The aim of collectables is to collect an entire set which is named a "collection".

Why Collect Them At All?

People collect these virtual items for the same reason that a person in the real world might collect stamps.

First of all, each item has its own unique features which make them attractive in some way. Secondly, it is something to brag about and show off as many Farmville players like to do. Third, there is the aim of completing an entire set - you can often get a ribbon for doing so too.

Remember though that these are just a side distraction from the main game. You are under no obligation to collect these items if all you want to do is level up and make more coins.

How To Get Them - Pop-ups

The easiest way to get collectables is to simply wait for them to appear on screen whilst you are playing the game. Every now and again you should see one pop up.

You need to be doing a specific activity to get specific collectibles. For example, you can get collectables whilst ploughing, fertilising, gifting and harvesting. If you do nothing then you will get nothing.

How To Get Them - Neighbours

The more predictable way of obtaining them is to monitor your live and news feeds for wall postings from your neighbours. Be quick though because collectables as well as other rewards and gifts are known to disappear within minutes and sometimes within seconds!

Types Of Collectables

Not all collectables are alike. Just like in the real world, some of them are more common than others and some are extremely rare.

Zynga, the game's developers, classify them into the following three categories: common, uncommon and rare. For example, if we look at bugs then we can see that a ladybug is common but a centipede is rare. For gardening tools, gloves are common but shears are rare.

Why Does My Friend Have More Collectables?

Many people have found that the way collectables are allocated is far from perfect. For example, you may find that you have a number of rare items and yet no common ones. Or your friend might have way more collectables than you, even though you have a similar number of neighbours.

Remember that the game is still technically in beta and rest assured that this aspect of the game will likely be tweaked in future.

Farmville Cash (Farmville Expert)

Farmville cash is one of the two currencies in the Facebook game, Farmville. The other currency is Farmville coins.

Most of the money in the game is generated and spent in Farmville coins. In fact, you don't even need cash at all if you want to have a great time playing the game.

Farmville cash is much harder to come by. The reason for introducing it to the game was probably a concerted effort by the game developers to get people to use their real money (dollars, euros etc.) to purchase Farmville cash.

Why would they want to do that? Because there are some unique and special items that can only be bought for Farmville cash. For example, the golden chicken costs 25 Farmville cash. There are also many unique decorations that can only be bought using Farmville cash.

Offers For Free Cash

Because many players don't want to spend their own real money on Petville cash, there are a few other ways to get it. One of these is to participate in offers.

Usually you are required to fill out a survey or register for a free trial. Beware thought that you will receive promotional emails so you may wish to use a spare email account for this purpose if you don't like that sort of thing.

Two companies with offers at the time of writing are Blockbuster and Netflix.

Buying Farmville Cash

Farmville is extremely addictive but also extremely rewarding. Hence, many players do actually spend real money on Farmville cash. Usually, the more you spend then the better a deal you get on your Farmville cash.

Under normal circumstances you should receive your cash almost instantaneously but it can sometimes take up to 24 hours before it appears in your account.

You can see how much of a money-spinner the cash is for Zynga. They make it so that the highly sought after items can only be bought with cash. By the time someone has invested days of their time in the game, they are left wanting more and only cash can fulfil their wants!

Other Ways To Get Farmville Cash

Otherwise the main way that most people get cash is simply by levelling up.

This means that you should concentrate on getting coins and experience points. Plant the highest yielding crops and visit your neighbours regularly.

If you follow this plan of action then it should not take too long at all to level up and receive your automatic cash.

Farmville Golden Chicken (Farmville Expert)

Few other animals have been as big a sensation in this game as the Farmville golden chicken. How do you get one? What do you need to be eligible for one? What is the point of the golden chicken anyway apart from extra kudos?

Buy For Farmville Cash

The golden chicken is available at the market but you need a hefty 25 Farmville cash to buy it. Many players are not willing to spend this amount on the golden chicken (or even convert real money into Farmville cash either) and prefer to get one via other means.

What You Need First

Make sure that you first have a chicken coop. This will cost you 5,000 coins at the market.

Why do you need a chicken coop first? Without one, it is simply not possible to hatch your golden chicken from the eggs that you are soon going to need.

You can still grab the eggs, but without a chicken coop you will later be kicking yourself when you realised that you just missed a "golden" opportunity (no pun intended).

Golden Eggs

You need to get a golden egg before you can hatch a golden chicken in your chicken coop.

The best way to get one is to monitor your news feed and live feed and see when a friend posts a mystery golden egg on their wall. You must be very quick though. Even if just ten minutes passes by, you may no longer be able to claim your golden egg. I have even heard stories of golden eggs being claimed within ten seconds!

Harvest Your Own Mystery Gold Eggs

You can also make your own golden eggs by putting your golden chicken into your chicken coop.

Why Is The Golden Chicken So Sought After?

Although less of a "must have" now compared to earlier, you need to have a neighbour with a golden chicken so that you can get the golden egg in the first place to hatch your own golden chicken.

In the early days, there were few people with golden chickens at all. Now that the population has multiplied many times over, they are much easier to come by. However, most farms still don't have any golden chickens at all which means that they will still be highly sought after for many months to come at least!

When most people have a golden chicken then the logical thing for Zynga to do is to release a new type of chicken. Platinum chicken, anyone?

Farmville Trees Guide (Farmville Expert)

Do you know all there is to know about trees in Farmville? Can they earn you a lot of money? What is the best strategy for planting them and harvesting the fruit from them? In this Farmville trees guide you can find a few handy tips to help you along the way.

How Trees Work In The Game

Farmville trees cost a fair amount and yield a regular harvest of fruit. Unfortunately, the return is nothing like that for crops.

For example, an orange tree will cost you 425 coins and after four days it will give you a harvest of 40 coins. Plus if you sell the tree you will only get 21 coins for it. This is fairly typical of most trees, except for the Acai.

The big advantage that trees have over crops is that you won't lose a ton of coins that you were expecting due to wilting. Trees and their fruit simply don't wilt (at least not in this game).

Decorations

Because trees don't yield much, many people simply use them as decorations. In fact, some people never harvest the fruit because they prefer the look of fruity trees!

The Best Tree

Ignoring the resale value, the best tree that you can buy for coins is the lime tree. It will give you 75 coins for each harvest which is a 10% profit. The lime tree gives the most profit in terms of coins and also in terms of return on investment.

But the investment takes a whole five days to mature. In fact, most other trees also yield close to 10% but many mature in as little as two or three days such as the cherry, apple, plum and lemon trees. If you don't mind tending to your trees every couple of days then you are better off choosing these instead.

Gifts

Many players never buy any trees at all but instead just accept them as gifts. If you receive a tree, unless you need money badly then you should never sell it. Just let it sit in an unused part of your farm, generating free money for you.

Acai

The Acai is a unique tree because it can only be bought with Farmville cash. It gives by far the highest profit (158 coins) and matures in just two days.

Although it is by far the best tree, personally I think there are far better ways to spend your Farmville cash.

How To Level Up Fast In Farmville (Farmville Expert)

Do you want to know how to level up fast in Farmville? Do you harbour dreams of having the ultimate farm looking just the way you like it with your own choice of whatever trees, animals, crops and buildings that you want? Here are some handy hints for levelling up quickly in this popular game.

Planting Crops

This is still the main way of getting experience points that will have you levelling up quickly.

Make sure that you are planting the appropriate crops for your level. Also make sure that you are planting crops that harvest in a suitable time. As a general rule, quicker maturing crops like berries will make you more coins and experience points compared to crops that take at least a day before you can harvest them.

If you find that you are frequently coming back to your computer to see wilted crops because you forgot to harvest them in time then you should switch to crops take longer to mature. Although you don't miss out on any lost experience points because you could not harvest, you will still lose out on coins which are also themselves useful for getting points (see later).

More Neighbours

The more neighbours you have, the more experience points you can gain.

When visiting your neighbours' farms, you can earn five experience points each time by tending to their farm.

Getting more neighbours as quickly as possible is an absolute must because they can also send you free gifts which can be used to sell for coins which can themselves be used to buy stuff which will in turn give you more experience points (see next section).

More Coins

You might have been wondering earlier when I spoke about planting crops: "why be concerned about coins"?

The more coins you make then the more stuff you can buy. Remember, when you buy stuff you also get experience points.

So don't neglect coins because you are focussing on experience points. Ideally you should just aim to maximise both to the best of your abilities.

Hay Bales

If you have a ton of coins left after tending to your own farm and you are not saving up for anything in particular then you can use this money to buy hay bales.

Each time you buy a hay bale you will get five experience points.

Farmville Free Stuff (Farmville Expert)

It is nice to be able to count on getting whatever freebies you can find in a game like this. Do you think you know about all the Farmville free stuff? Are you sure about that? Here is a list of freebies that you might not be aware of.

Free Gifts

Ask your neighbours for free gifts. You can either use these gifts or sell them for coins (although they usually don't give you much in the way of coins, but something is still better than nothing).

The best way to get free gifts from your neighbours is to send them free gifts first. You will find that people will reciprocate your generosity. If you keep doing this back and forth several times then some people will keep sending you gifts almost forever!

The best way to get neighbours in the first place is to go to the Zynga Farmville forums and check out some Farmville Facebook groups. You should be able to see discussion threads where people are asking "add me". Simply click on their profile link and add them as a friend. Once they have accepted your friend request, go ahead and request that they also be your neighbour in Farmville.

Free Unwither

Sometimes when visiting your neighbours' farms, you can uncover a free unwither. Unfortunately you can't use this on your own farm but it is still nice to be able to do a nice favour like this. Who knows, you might get some free gifts in return!

Mystery Boxes

As you root around your neighbours' farms, keep your eyes peeled for mystery boxes. These contain all manner of freebies.

You can find free trees, animals and even coins and cash too.

Free Coins

Just by logging in every day you can be eligible to win free coins in the daily raffle.

I have also noticed that when you run out of coins in the game for the first time that you will be given a nice amount of coins for free. I think this is a one-time only deal though.

Offers For Free Farmville Cash - Beware!

Beware of any offers for free Farmville cash. Most of them are bogus and will use your email address for spamming purposes. There are also many fake Farmville Facebook groups that try to promise you the same thing.

Again, stay well clear of these people as they are trying to take advantage of you.

Farmville Experience Points (Farmville Expert)

How can you get more Farmville experience points? What are the many different ways that you can get more? In this article, I'll share with you some handy tips.

Plant Crops

You get experience points when you plough a field and also when you plant new crops.

Although the quicker growing crops give you less experience points than those that take a day or longer to come to harvest, the flip side is that you can usually plant them quickly enough that you can make more experience points per day with these.

For this reason, I advise sticking to the berries to start with as your main crops to tend to during the day. Start with strawberries and then plant raspberries, blueberries and blackberries as they become available when you level up.

Although raspberries won't give you any experience points for planting, you will still earn them for ploughing. Plus you'll get coins which can be used to buy stuff and this in itself will also give you more experience points.

Get Tons Of Neighbours

The more neighbours that you have then the more experience you can gain. Make sure to visit the Farmville forums and Farmville groups on Facebook. Here you will find many people who are looking for new neighbours. Simply add them as a friend and then, once confirmed, add them as a neighbour also.

Then when you have done this you can visit your neighbours' farms each day and tend to them. This will earn you five experience points each time. However, after the 20th neighbour you will only earn one experience point each time for the rest of the day. Personally speaking, I don't think it is worth trying to get more points in this way when you reach this point.

Plough, Plant And Delete

If you have a ton of coins then one interesting way to get a lot of experience points is to simply use it all up on ploughing and planting.

Ploughing will give you a single experience point and if you plant soybeans then you will get two experience points. For a total cost of 30 coins you get three experience points.

Now delete the plot of land and repeat the process. This is a very quick way to accumulate a lot of Farmville experience points in a small amount of time for relatively little money.

Farmville Best Crops (Farmville Expert)

What are the best crops in Farmville? Do you know which ones yield the most money? Do you know which crops to plant depending on when you can next get back to your computer? Do you know which crops to plant depending on your current level?

Which Crop Makes The Most Money?

Peas are the highest yielding crop in terms of money.

They will cost you 190 coins to plant. Harvesting will bring you in 381 coins. Don't forget to subtract the ploughing cost of 15 coins. This means that you can make 176 coins per day total!

Which Crops To Plant Overnight?

If you're going to bed for around eight hours then you'll want to plant something that won't wilt in your sleep.

In general, except at the higher levels, the best crops to plant overnight are pumpkin. They take eight hours to come to harvest and then you have a further eight hours before they wilt. You can plant these from level 5.

They cost 30 coins and will bring in 68 coins once harvested.

Which Crops To Plant During The Day?

In general you should plant berries during the day until you reach levels 20 and higher. Start with strawberries then move on to raspberries and then blueberries. Don't forget that berries will mature very quickly so be sure to get back in time to log in and sell your harvests.

As you reach the higher levels, you will find that tomatoes are a fantastic crop. They also only need to be harvested every eight hours.

A Special Mention For Grapes

If you get fed up of coming back to the computer too many times during the day to harvest and replant your berries then you may want to look into grapes. They will make you marginally less but you can wait much longer.

Planting grapes costs 85 coins. Add the 15 coins ploughing cost and that makes for a total cost of 100 coins. However, they can be harvested for 270 coins which makes for a total profit of 170 coins per day.

The downside is that you can't plant grapes until you reach level 19.

Farmville Tips And Cheats (Farmville Expert)

You don't have all day to play the game so you need some good Farmville tips and cheats. What are the best crops to grow, how can you level up as quickly as possible and is there such a thing as a cheat or hack for this game?

No Cheats Allowed

The first thing to mention about this game is that there are no cheats, glitches or hacks to get tons of coins, cash or experience points.

There are many sites on the internet that claim to possess cheats. Do not believe them. They are simply a ruse designed to get you to install spyware on your PC.

Whilst you can hack your money and then take a quick screenshot, just a few seconds later the game servers will reset your money to the correct value or they might even ban you.

What Are The Best Crops To Grow?

This really depends on what level you have reached in the game.

Farmville is a game of efficiency and using your time the best that you can.

When starting out, strawberries are the best crop. They can be harvested every four hours and give a good rate of profit per hour. Just remember that they will also wilt in four hours so you may want to choose a crop that takes longer to grow before you head to bed for the night e.g. pumpkin.

How To Level Up As Quickly As Possible

The key to levelling up as quickly as possible in Farmville is to plant the highest yielding crops and harvest them in time. This means that you will have to be fairly active during the day or else risk losing your entire crop if they wilt. If this sounds like too much work then simply plant slightly lower yielding crops that give you a longer grace period in which to come back and harvest them.

Make sure to add as many neighbours as possible. The more you have then the more you can make from working on their farms and the more gifts you will be able to receive from them.

The more you make, the more you can expand, plough new land and grow even more crops.

Also, don't waste too much of your money on animals and trees. Instead, encourage your neighbours to send you them as free gifts instead.
